You can take the metro (line 2 or line 4 – direction “Déli pályaudvar”) right from the railway station to Blaha Lujza Square or Rákóczy Square or you can walk, it’s around 15 minutes by foot. (On the map you will see the walking route with grey, and the metro line 4 with green colors.)
Tram lines 4 and 6 (directions “Fehérvári út” and “Móricz Zsigmond körtér”) will take you right from the railway station to Blaha Lujza Square.
Take the metro (line 3 – direction “Újpest-Központ”) and get off at Kálvin Square.
You can buy single tickets and passes at every metro station. Tickets are available on the buses from the driver as well. Be very careful to always have a validated ticket or pass with you in every transport line, violation fees are high and they check passengers a lot!
Weekdays from 8am to 8pm in downtown Budapest you have to pay a fee for parking! Always check the signs and parking machines on the streets. There are free parking areas outside the city center and guarded parking houses all around the city.
